Later today we go to apply for Ellie's Chinese passport. We got up fairly late and had breakfast and then decided to head out for a little shopping. Sami is learning all she can from the locals. The island really is a mess right now making it hard to get around in many areas, but most of the stores we remember are still open - they just appear closed. We were sad to find out from our guide that La Dolce Vita recently closed so we have ordered Papa John's delivered (on Gotcha Day again) and there is actually a McDonald's that delivers. It tastes a little different, but not too much. I was glad to find out that we'll have a group dinner tonight at the Chinese place across from the hotel. Last trip we had a lunch there after orientation and it was very good.
Isabella is doing wonderfully considering the grief she must be feeling. She became a little overwhelmed at the Carrefour yesterday and cried for a while and she did cry briefly this morning when she saw we hadn't disappeared. Other than that she's handling the change much better than I would in the same situation - that's for sure. She goes to both of us with no problem and will still take a bottle before nap and bedtime. That is so nice for bonding. I am disturbed to report that she loves congee. Hopefully she'll grow out of that quickly! She slept between Chris and I last night again after Elizabeth read her a book and woke slowly looking from one of us to the other thinking. At least it looks like she is thinking. We just adore her and she seems to like us okay so all is good.
